1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

A mother of 2, once a mother of 2 under 2 (lol), ex-banker, now entrepreneur. I started my Instagram (ID: susansuperwoman) and Wechat (ID: susanwithlove) channel last year, with a focus on fashion, beauty and career advice. It is going very well.

My job gives me flexibility, which I love, and it is also something I truly enjoy doing. I feel that after you reach 30, especially when you are a mom, whatever you do, make sure you really enjoy it, so you know it is worthy of your time. Because every minute you go out to events, speeches, shoots, or filming, it’s another minute away from your babies.

Through my channels, I also get to meet and connect with interesting people from various industries. A lot of them are females who have inspired me. I’ve learnt a great deal from them, and still do all the time. This year, I am hoping to launch my own product line of beauty & health, and for kids (happy to discuss collaboration opportunities). I am also working as a model (PRIMO) and a TV personality on the side. Recently I’ve returned from Shanghai, where I went to shoot a TV programme, “Hot Mom College”, as a guest, which will be on next week. Excited!

2. What is your beauty regime?

My morning starts early at 7am. I wash my face with just clear water, then I use toner and mist, serum and lotion. For breakfast I like to have cereal with black coffee, or my favorite, avocado shake with coconut milk and manuka honey. (YUM!) You’ve got to try it!

For my night time ritual, my recent obsession is the rose quartz facial roller from The Artistry I like how it helps to get circulation going, usually I use it when applying sheet masks. I do this almost every night before sleep, and also in the morning if I have a shooting or event to go to that day. On a weekly basis, I’ll go for a nice body massage, and a facial massage on a monthly basis. For my yearly beauty regime I like to do a detox week to re-start my body fresh.

3. Do you have any beauty secret?

My number one beauty secret right now is the rose quartz facial roller from The Artistry that I mentioned above. I apply masks at least 4 times a week – 2 days for hydrating, 1 day of exfoliating, and 1 day for firming. Sleeping on silk pillowcases and using silk eye cover. I have the whole set from SLIP, which I forgot to take it with me the last time I traveled and I couldn’t sleep for 2 nights.

4. What are your must-have beauty products?

My must-have beauty products are my sheet masks, especially the ones for exfoliation. Nowadays, our skin is easily exposed to polluted surroundings and chemicals. It is critical to deep clean your skin every day and make sure it breathes through the night without any leftover of your makeup or any forms of pollution. I apply sunscreen every day. UV is the biggest enemy to your skin.

For beauty gadgets, I use the NUFACE mini HiFu facial machine 2 times a week, 5 minutes a day. I like how it gives me an immediate firming and lifting effect, so I use it before I go for casting or shooting.

5. How do you balance between work, life, and self-care?

I quit my banking job 2 years ago for my kids and family. There really is no perfect balance for me but it does not stop me from trying. I am now working as an Instagram influencer and Wechat influencer. I am grateful that it has gained good traction in such a short time and has been recognized by brands, media & various platforms. I was honored to give a speech at TEDx conference in China last year to share my secret “shortcut” to success (want to know details? Please follow me on Instagram and Wechat).

When I am traveling, I know I will be away from my kids (as they are both still very young). So that when I am home, I will make sure I am 100% there for them. I would put my phone away for hours, doing nothing but spending time with only them. For myself, I normally have 2 hours of “me-time” every night after my babies go to bed. This is the time to take care of my skin, body and mind, and I make sure I go to bed before 12. It’s important that we take care of ourselves so that we have the energy to take care of others - our kids, our family, and our business.

6. How do you relax at the end of the day?

Normally I will be exhausted after a day of working and babysitting. I like to apply body oil after showering, lavender scented, which helps me to relax whilst moisturizing my skin. Like many other girls, I like to watch TV shows after my babies go to bed and I have been “keeping up with the Kardashians” (LOL). The reality show really makes me laugh and be relaxed. They have some real talent there. No joke.
